Behind the Collection: Inspiration from Zihuatanejo

Zihuatanejo Inspiration | Rebecca Atwood

Inspiration for the our new collection of embroidered fabrics and pillows came when I was in Zihuatanejo, Mexico for my sister-in-law's wedding. I spent my time painting by the pool and inspired by the bright happy colors, shapes of the leaves, and relaxing vibe. While most of the time what's inspiring me is loose and more about the mood of  a place, there was one very specific thing that translated into a new design.  I saw these bright painted ceramics on the doors to the rooms at the hotel that were a sun and moon combined. They were very illustrative, as you'll see below, but I loved this concept of the sun and moon and translated that into a motif in my sketchbook that became our Sun and Moon design.
