One of the things that I enjoy most about my job is working with our wonderful interior design clients. I'm always so excited to see our products in a real home! You can see all our the posts in our Interior Designers We Love series here.
Rebecca Atwood Designs: Tell us about this project!
Casework: Like many ranch homes in Portland, Oregon built in the 50s, this one had seen several rounds of remodels. From crown molding to a pedestal sink in the master, most of the renovations didn't make sense to us or function for our client. We worked with general contractors Raven Builders to bring back the 1950s charm with newer updates and a current look. Our goal was to create a modern, functional space that had minimalistic details for a family of four. We opted for a neutral palette and went minimal wherever possible, the entry is the only place we used pattern.
RAD: We see pattern as a storyteller, how did you use it in this project?
CW: Pattern was used to set the tone for the project. I used the Marble in Cloud in the entry because it's the perfect mix of subtle color and bold pattern to work with a minimalist's palette. The intricate marbling creates texture without being too overpowering and at the same time makes a statement when you walk in the door.
