One of the things that I enjoy most about my job is working with our wonderful interior design clients. I'm always so honored to see our products in a real home. You can see all the homes in our Interior Designers We Love series here.
Heidi Lachapelle Interiors aims to design functional, yet beautiful spaces that reflect their clients. Their designs juxtapose vintage and antique pieces with modern elements, creating the perfect marriage of style and soul. Hear more from Heidi and see photos from this project below.
Tell us about this project.
The library pictured sits right off of the main living space in our client’s home. It houses her collections of books. We loved the idea of creating a cozy place for her to curl up and read in this light filled room. We built a daybed to fit right into the far corner of the room and topped it with a custom cushion. We used pillows made from both vintage fabrics and new in various shades of indigo to bring fun pops of color in the room. The art is by Heidi’s husband, Louis-Pierre Lachapelle. We love how his bold use of color mixes in this room.
The chairs in the library were our client’s grandmothers. We gave them a fresh look by reupholstering them in a durable, denim like fabric with a subtle all-over print. The rug is vintage and Turkish and has the most amazing jewel-toned colors in it.
We love how the mix of old and new came together in such a fun an unexpected way in this room.
We see pattern as a storyteller, how did you use it in this project?
We used indigo as a jumping off point in this room. From there it was all about finding the right mix of patterned fabrics to give this room the layered look we love. We love how the perfectly faded indigo striped pillows played off of the curving lines of the marbled RA pillows.
