Marble Geode Fabricin Pale Marine

$195/yard

The subtly varying colors of this intricate marbled textile make it so very special. Rebecca’s original suminagashi artwork, done in india ink on rice paper, references geological and coastal elements. We love how the weaving process captures its variations, enriching its colors and textures with artisan-dyed warp yarn and making it a dynamic choice for layering.

Process
In Japanese, suminagashi means “floating ink.” It’s a method Rebecca loves because it’s meditative, like raindrops hitting a lake, and surprising because you can’t totally control the results. She first created this pattern in india ink on water by touching her paintbrushes lightly to its surface then dipping rice paper in to capture it. Re-creating the marbled design as a woven pattern, which typically is more structured and geometric, took close collaboration with our partners at a specialty weaving factory in Pennsylvania. The jacquard loom artisan-dyed warp yarn allows us to capture the intricate colors of the original marbled artwork in a textile that has a luxurious weight and texture.
The Art of Making
We believe that creativity feeds the soul, and that intention feeds creativity. Everything we do is in the spirit of making the world a more beautiful place, one design decision at a time.
