RA: Christine, we’re grateful to have worked with you for so many years. Your interiors always feel fresh and cohesive with details that are so special.

RA: We believe wallpapers help create living landscapes that awaken our inner world. What kind of feeling or atmosphere were you aiming to create in each space using our Scribble and Wildflower wallpapers?
CM: We love the way the Scribble wallpaper works as a texture and a backdrop to bolder patterns in the space. Ultimately, we were creating a respite for our client, a space where she can relax with her family after a long day on the Lake.

This bathroom feels like an extension of a bedroom—the sink in particular looks like a dresser to me. Tell us more about your approach to this room and your choice to use our Wildflower wallpaper.
We designed the bedroom floor to feel like a Parisian apartment, with no delineation between the sleeping space and the bathroom space. Each piece chosen for the bathroom needed to feel cohesive with the bedroom furnishings. The vanity was created from a painted chest of drawers from the South of France and we added the stone countertop and a recessed sink. The paper reminded me of the view of fields from her windows, and the palette was soothing and quiet.

The colors we’re drawn to can make us feel supported, safe, and happy—they play a key role in setting the mood of a room. We’d love to hear what inspired your choice of color scheme for this living room.
Inspired by the client’s contemporary art collection, we embraced the endless variations of green woven through each work, creating a palette both nuanced and alive. We curated fabrics to echo the art’s shifting greens, with a softly textured wallpaper serving as the quiet thread that unites art and space.

You layer patterns in an organic way that feels easy and natural. How do you go about selecting patterns that work well together?
Typically, we try to keep saturation of color within the prints on the same wavelength and play with scale of pattern. Then we mix light and darks prints together to create balance.
I’ve loved seeing how you’ve used our Sun and Moon pattern in different rooms over the years—in this project, you used it in a bedroom. Can you share what drew you to it?
It's so whimsical and fun. It’s hard to resist!

I always notice the bespoke details in your projects. Can you tell us how you approach custom upholstery?
We see upholstery as an opportunity to transform the functional elements of a room into sculptural pieces—bringing artistry and dimension to what might otherwise be considered the nuts and bolts of a space. You are not likely to find a white sofa in our portfolio. Sometimes, the shape of the piece dictates the choice of fabric, other times it's the fabric leading the style of upholstery we present to the client. We love using trims on upholstery and contrast fabrics for welts to create elements of surprise that are unique to each project.
