Process
Rebecca painted these life-size leaves on the same 30-by-40-inch sheets of Rives BFK printmaking paper that I return to time and again. The size of the paper definitely influenced the scale of the pattern—she loves how freeing it is to lay down colors on large sheets of paper. After Rebecca had done several pages, she noticed some of the leaves were tonally more similar and grouped them together. In the end, she picked out her favorite individual leaves to make this pattern in its different colorways.
